Four things and nothing else. Their name, so a teacher can see whose writing is whose and track progress. The class they belong to. A device identifier, used for reliability. The texts they write.
Collected per student
So a teacher can act if something inappropriate is submitted, follow an individual student's progress and tell apart two students with the same first name. Names are visible to the teacher and never to classmates.
Why the name
No email addresses. No passwords or login credentials. No birthdays, home addresses or contact details. Nothing is collected for advertising and nothing is sold.

Questions before you start

Teachers revert to the basic version of WeWillWrite and your data stays where it is. You can still log into the dashboard to see historical metrics and classroom data.
Around the same time we send a report covering your school's writing activity during the pilot, which you can share internally.

Yes. Email support@wewillwrite.com with your school name and how many extra seats you need and we will set it up. There is no seat limit for you to manage.

The pilot is free, but our system cannot automatically pause a personal subscription. To avoid being charged while the pilot runs, the teacher should go to Settings and turn off personal recurring billing. Their sessions, student data and writing history carry over into the pilot workspace.

No. Each session has a unique PIN. Students go to join.wewillwrite.com, enter the PIN shown on the teacher's screen and type their name once. Between 3 and 100 students can write in the same session.

Yes. We sign DPAs using frameworks developed by the Student Data Privacy Consortium and have active agreements in many US states. To check availability for your state, see the Trust Center or contact support@wewillwrite.com.
